Frequently asked questions

Everything about WhatsApp bulk messaging, the uni-msg WhatsApp API, automation and keeping your number healthy. Still stuck? [email protected].

What is uni-msg?

uni-msg is a complete WhatsApp platform: a unified inbox with AI conversation insights, WhatsApp bulk messaging, contact and group management, automation workflows, and a REST API with webhooks. You connect your own WhatsApp number and run everything from one dashboard.

How do I send bulk WhatsApp messages?

Connect a WhatsApp number, import or select contacts, write a message template with variables such as {{name}}, then start the campaign. uni-msg queues the messages and sends them with randomised delays and message spinning so the pattern looks human rather than machine-generated.

Is WhatsApp bulk messaging safe for my number?

It depends entirely on how you send. Blasting thousands of identical messages to people who never opted in is the fastest way to get a number banned. uni-msg reduces that risk with a warm-up schedule for new numbers, configurable delays between messages, message spinning, working-hour limits and a per-number daily cap. Those controls lower risk, but no tool can make unsolicited bulk messaging safe — only message people who agreed to hear from you.

How many WhatsApp messages can I send per day?

New numbers should start small and build up over days rather than sending at full volume immediately. uni-msg applies a warm-up ramp and a daily cap per number, and your plan sets a monthly allowance. Paid plans include unlimited messages subject to those safety limits and to WhatsApp's own rate limits.

Do you offer a WhatsApp API?

Yes. Every plan above Free exposes a REST API with API-key authentication for sending text, media, documents, locations, buttons and list messages, plus webhooks that push inbound messages and delivery status to your endpoint in real time. The Developer plan is API-only and does not include the dashboard UI.

Is this the official WhatsApp Business API?

No. uni-msg connects your own WhatsApp account as a linked device, the same way WhatsApp Web does, so there is no Meta approval process, no template pre-approval and no per-conversation fee. If you need the official Business API with green-tick verification and Meta's template system, you need a Meta Business Solution Provider instead.

How do I connect my WhatsApp number?

Add a device in the dashboard and link it either by scanning a QR code in WhatsApp under Linked Devices, or with an 8-character pairing code entered under Link with phone number. The session stays connected until you unlink it or WhatsApp logs the device out.

Can I use more than one WhatsApp number?

Yes. Each device is a separate WhatsApp number with its own session, and the unified inbox shows conversations from every number in one place, colour-coded by device with a filter per number. Plan limits determine how many numbers you can connect at once.

What can the automation workflows do?

Workflows react to events such as an inbound message, a keyword, a schedule or a webhook, then run actions: send a message or media, call an HTTP endpoint, add a contact to a group, branch on a condition, wait, or generate an AI reply. That covers auto-replies, lead routing, drip sequences and reminders without writing code.

Does uni-msg handle group and community messages?

Yes. Group and community conversations are threaded like any other chat in the inbox, each incoming message is attributed to the participant who sent it, and you can send to a group by its ID. You can also send to contacts you only have a WhatsApp LID for rather than a phone number.

What does the AI insight do?

For each conversation uni-msg can generate a short summary, a sentiment label and a suggested next step from the recent messages. It runs automatically about 20 seconds after a contact stops writing, and keeps a history so you can see how a conversation developed over time.

Is uni-msg an official WhatsApp integration?

No, and it is important you understand the difference. uni-msg links your number as a companion device over the same protocol WhatsApp Web uses. WhatsApp does not publish or support that protocol for third-party clients, so this is an unofficial integration. The upside is no Meta approval, no template pre-approval, no per-conversation fees and normal chat behaviour. The downside is that it is against WhatsApp's Terms of Service, WhatsApp can change the protocol at any time, and a number can be restricted or banned. Choose it with that trade-off in mind.

How does the unofficial integration actually work?

When you scan the QR code or enter a pairing code, WhatsApp registers uni-msg as a linked device on your account, exactly like WhatsApp Web or WhatsApp Desktop. Your phone shares the encryption keys with that device, and from then on the session sends and receives messages directly over WhatsApp's servers using the multi-device protocol. Messages stay end-to-end encrypted between you and the people you talk to. The session lives on our server, so it keeps working when your phone is offline.

Can my WhatsApp number get banned?

Yes. Any number can be restricted or banned, whether you use an unofficial client or WhatsApp itself. Bans are driven mainly by recipient behaviour and sending patterns: people blocking you, people tapping Report, a sudden jump in outbound volume from a new number, identical text sent to many recipients, or messaging people who never gave you their number. Using an unofficial client raises the baseline risk because it removes the friction that would normally slow a human down.

How do I protect my number from being banned?

Message only people who opted in, and give them an obvious way to opt out. Warm a new number up over one to two weeks instead of starting at full volume. Keep delays between messages and vary the text so every recipient does not get a byte-identical message. Send during the recipient's working hours. Watch your block and report rate and stop immediately if it climbs. Keep the number active with real two-way conversations, not only outbound blasts. Never buy contact lists. uni-msg enforces warm-up, delays, spinning, working hours and a daily cap, but the content and the consent are on you.

What are the warning signs before a ban?

Watch for messages that stop showing the second delivery tick for many recipients, a rising number of blocks, replies telling you to stop, the device dropping its session repeatedly, or WhatsApp temporarily refusing to link a new device for that number. Any of those means slow down or stop sending. A short restriction usually precedes a permanent ban, so treat the first one as your only warning.

What do I do if my number gets banned?

First, stop sending from any other number on the same pattern, or you will lose those too. Then request a review inside WhatsApp: open the app, and on the banned screen tap Request a review, or submit the form at support.whatsapp.com with your full number in international format. Be brief and factual about how you use the number and what consent you collect. Reviews typically take a few days. Do not create a new account on the same device and immediately resume the same behaviour, and do not use a ban-appeal service that promises guaranteed unbanning. If the ban is upheld, the number is gone: move to a new number, fix the sending pattern that caused it, and warm the new number up slowly.

What happens to my data in uni-msg if a number is banned?

Nothing is deleted. Your contacts, message history, workflows and settings stay in your workspace, and the device simply shows as disconnected. You can link a different number to the same workspace and carry on. Note that message history that lived only on the banned WhatsApp account itself is controlled by WhatsApp, not by us.

How much does it cost?

There is a Free Forever plan with one device and 50 messages a month, no card required. Paid plans start at $19/month for Pro, $29 for Developer (API-only), $39 for Business and $99 for Enterprise with five devices, all with a 3-day trial. Message credit top-ups are available from $2.
